Towards Net Zero
Description
In the year the UN Conference Of Parties (COP) would be hosted in Glasgow by the UK government, RIBA prioritised a number of outputs around the theme of sustainability.
I project managed a team to increase benefits to RIBA Chartered Members and showcase the work of architects on a global stage.
The project began with a relaunch of the RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge
targets, including:
- New guidance document, FAQ’s and client guidance.
- New process for collecting project data on the targets
- New promotional materials for RIBA Chartered Practice’s
We also created a new climate action landing page
on www.archictecture.com featuring all sustainability related content.
The COP26 Programme comprises of:
New sustainability resources developed for the learning team and delivery in one school in Glasgow during COP26.
Attendance at Expo 2020 in Dubai engaging 10 schools of architecture and 100+ students in a project brief on a sustainability theme.
RIBA's attendance at COP26
in Glasgow and speaking opportunities on a variety of panels.
The RIBA Built Environment Summit, a global hybrid event designed in response to an open call for research and evidence from the Built Environment Sector and publication of the Built for the Environment report
ahead of COP26 in Glasgow.
This event featured 20+ speakers with key notes from:
- Dr Timothy Morton: Professor and Rita Shea Guffey Chair in English at Rice University, Texas.
- Julian Allwood: Professor of Engineering and the Environment, St. Catherine's College, Cambridge.
- Martina Otto: Head of Cities and Lifestyles, United Nations Environment.
- Cristina Gamboa: Chief Executive Officer of the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC).
- Farhana Yamin: Internationally recognised environmental lawyer, climate change and development policy expert and political coordinator of Extinction Rebellion.
